Sean’s Bar is the perfect sport for your next birthday party, Wedding Day 2, and a host of other celebrations. With music in the bar seven nights a week and live bands in the beer garden every weekend, you can rest assured that we’ve got your entertainment covered. We Also offer a number of catering options including BBQ’s and finger food.

Food is available until 6pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and bank holiday Sundays and until 8pm weekdays. Please note that children are welcome up to 7.00pm but must always be kept under strict supervision. Due to the size and nature of the pub children cannot be on the premises after 7pm.

The Boathouse Bar at Sean’s
Sean’s Bar offers a unique and fantastic meeting room in the Boathouse Bar, situated over Ireland's oldest pub with fantastic views of the river Shannon
The Boathouse at Sean's is ideal for any party, whether it is a corporate function, a birthday party, or for a family get together. The room is fitted out to the highest standards with leather seating and has its own bar and toilets. All parties can be tailored to suit. A minimum of 50 people is required for a private party - for smaller parties up to 40 people we can reserve an area in the main bar, whilst keeping it open to the public.
9.00pm is the latest time we will hold the room for. Please note that persons under 18 years of age are not permitted to be on the premises after 9.00pm. Please email info@seansbar.ie for information on room hire rates and availability.
Sean’s Bar Whiskey Experience
Sean’s Bar Whiskey Experience is a little different from your conventional whiskey tasting event. You will of course taste our two own whiskey blends, Sean's Luain Edition Specially Blended Whiskey and also our Single Malt "Clonmacnoise".
Our experience will begin in the main bar with a talk and tour of Ireland's oldest pub where you learn about the amazing history of the pub, including Luain the very first Inn Keeper and the many other colourful characters who owned the pub throughout the centuries. We will also bring you back in time and talk about the drinking habits of the Irish throughout the years which has led to our worldwide reputation for having a fondness for pub life and having the craic. We will then bring you upstairs where you will sample our own whiskeys in the comfort of the Boathouse.
The price for the whiskey experience is €15 per person which will include a drink on arrival (Sean's Whiskey or our own house beer) Minimum group size is 6 people and booking in advance is essential. For more information or availability please contact us on 090 649 2358 or email info@seansbar.ie.
Daily Historical Talks
Daily Tour of Sean's bar and Historical Whiskey Talk by Timmy Donovan @ 11am
Sean's bar is delighted to announce that we will host a daily tour of the pub and historical whiskey talk every morning hosted by Timmy Donovan. Timmy has been at Sean's for almost 40 years and has a great knowledge of the pub, the town, and indeed many events connected with the river Shannon throughout the years. All tours will be welcomed by Timmy and he loves to talk about the history of Ireland's oldest pub dating right back to 900AD. Each group will also hear about the very origin of whiskey itself on Lough Ree where the monks brought back the secrets of Uisce Beatha and distilling to their main monasteries and where they perfected the art of whiskey making. This is an amazing story and guests can enjoy a Sean's Irish Whiskey or indeed an Irish coffee while listening to Timmy.

The Boathouse Bar is suited to a private meeting for up to 25 people boardroom style or 50 people theatre style. The room has its own private bar, toilets, and outdoor terraced area.

Private facilities are available for up to 50 guests seated with tailor made menus to suit every occasion. Our Boathouse room with outside terrace, combined with superb cuisine and impeccable service combine to make each occasion that little bit special, For larger groups we can cater for up to 200 people in the beer garden. BBQ/buffet or finger food menus can be tailored to suit.

With its incredible range of activities both on land and water, Athlone sets the scene for an unforgettable team building or sports and social event. Challenge your group with treasure hunt, Clay Pigeon shooting, or canoe racing. Why not threat them to a visit to Athlone's castle or a cruise on the Viking Ship, finishing up back at Sean's for a well-deserved beverage. Complete your team building day with a fabulous BBQ in the beer garden with food served by Savoury Fare. Alternatively your group may prefer cocktails, wine and canapes in the Boathouse bar.
